Central Service/Sterile Processing Technician

The Central Service/Sterile Processing Technician responsibilities include cleaning and decontamination of supplies and equipment, checking and preparing equipment for sterilization, delivering and picking up of supplies to and from medical/surgical areas, packaging and sterilization of instrumentation, and utilizing technology to maintain units of inventory. This program requires a commitment of 20.5 hours per week of externship hours/on-the-job training. Students successfully completing this course may sit for the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) examination.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Meet program criteria on Workforce Training Assessment
  • Physical Examination
  • Immunization: Two-Step TB
  • Immunization: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Immunization: Tetanus
  • Immunization: Chicken Pox
  • Immunization: Hepatitis B
  • Background Check completed at MVCTC
  • FAFSA Completed

Accreditation by:  North Central Association; Approved by International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) to run the course.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the exam for this certification: CRCST through the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management
