The masonry program prepares students to successfully enter the construction industry with the skills and knowledge needed for an entry-level position in the bricklaying/masonry field.  Students will learn the use of hand tools, power tools, and other equipment regularly used by masons.  Students will work with mortar, brick, stone, and block, and learn to lay, align, and join brick and block to stone and concrete.  Blueprint reading, math, and cost estimating are also included in this program.

MASONRY 1:  Introduction to Masonry, Masonry Tools and Equipment, Measurements, Drawings, and Specifications, Mortar, Masonry Units and Installation Techniques, OSHA 30 Hour, Basic Safety, Introduction to Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Introduction to Blueprints, Basic Rigging, Basic Communication Skills, Basic Employability Skills

MASONRY 2:  Residential Plans and Drawing Interpretation Residential Masonry, Grout and Other Reinforcement, Metal Work in Masonry, Advanced Laying Techniques, Construction Techniques and Moisture Control, Construction Inspection and Quality Control

MASONRY 3:  Masonry in High-Rise Construction, Specialized Materials and Techniques, Repair and Restoration, Commercial Drawings, Estimating, Site Layout Distance Measuring and Leveling, Introductory Skills For The Crew Leader

MASONRY 4:  Introduction to Concrete Construction and Finishing, Safety Requirements, Properties of Concrete, Tools and Equipment, Preparing for Placement, Placing Concrete, Finishing (Part One), Curing and Protecting Concrete, Introduction to Troubleshooting
