Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties. The dental assistant works chairside with the dentist. Dental assistants sterilize and disinfect equipment, prepare tray setups and instruct patients on oral health care. Dental assistants with office duties schedule appointments, keep treatment records, and order supplies and materials. Most dental assistants work in private dental offices.
