The carpentry program prepares students to enter the construction industry. Students are trained to construct residential structures using both standard and sustainable building materials. A blend of classroom theory and hands-on experience is used to teach proper use of hand tools, portable power tools, and other equipment, as well as working with lumber, panel products, concrete, roofing materials, fasteners, and a variety of hardware. Other topics include site layout and foundation work, rough framing, roof framing, exterior and interior finish work, blueprint reading, math, and cost estimating.
