It’s never too late to start improving your skills!

Basic Skills & GED Prep Classes

Improve reading, math, and writing skills for pre-hire testing or for your own satisfaction. Increase WorkKeys® scores.

GED students: If you attend at least three class sessions and pass the GED Practice Test, your  $55 fee will be waived. Classes are open to out-of-school adults 16 years or older. Call 937-854-6253 or 1-800-716-7161 for more information.

Free GED Practice Test

This test begins on the first and third Monday of each month from 10am - 2pm or 5pm - 8:30pm.  Attendance at a minimum of three class sessions is required to qualify for a free test.  The usual fee is $55.00.  Pre-registration is necessary.  Please call 937-854-6253 to register.

GED Test

This test is offered twice monthly at MVCTC on Hoke Road.  Select from a two session evening or an all day test.  You may qualify to take the GED test for free.  Call MVCTC at 937-854-6253 for more information.

Helping you meet your educational goals.

Miami Valley Career Technology Center offers self-paced, non-graded courses designed to improve basic skills or to aid in career advancement.  The following three courses correspond to three commonly used WorkKeys® tests.  Generally, students can expect to raise their WorkKeys® score by one level after approximately 24 class hours.  These classes are scheduled based upon student requests. Applied Mathematics

Topics include whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and the use of basic math formulas such as area, volume, and mass.

Applied Technology

Topics include principles of basic mechanics, electricity, fluid dynamics, and thermo-dynamics as applied to machines and other workplace equipment.  Emphasis is placed on identifying relevant aspects of problems, analyzing, and sequencing those aspects, and applying existing materials or methods to new situations.

Reading Skills

Topics cover a wide range including how to identify main ideas, choose correct meaning of words, and apply instructions to situations.
